According to Smart Brief, a new HHS report says that the government needs to do more to fight medical identity theft and make it a priority on the health information technology slate. Making sure records are correct ensures patients get the right medication and care. “Government should take the lead to ensure that medical identity theft is taken into consideration as part of the broader interoperability, governance, and privacy and security initiatives associated with the interchange and protection of personal health data,” the report said.
